Conversations with Color: A Request
I often get the feeling that my divination tools have things to say to the world...or things to ask the world. This project is about some of these tools: my color dice set and my color themed magpie decks, including the 2000+ card magpie deck known to the public as The Big One.
I'm looking to interview members of the Pagan and occult communities about practically anything of interest to those communities...through the medium of these tools. One of them will ask the questions and I'll interpret the questions for you, starting with the magpie decks. Assuming that the resulting chaos is entertaining and educational, the dice will join in on a later round of interviews.
It doesn't matter if you're a big name. Fresh new voices, minority voices, and voices from obscure parts of the community are particularly welcome.
If you're interested, contact me at alleywitch17@gmail.com and let me know which of the below topics you'd like to claim. You can get more specific with any of them, or suggest something similar.
For the first round, I'm looking for one person for each of the following categories:
- Subtle, sneaky, shadowy, and/or underground deities, spirits, and/or magic
- Witchy/Pagan/occult community's influences on your practice
- Boundaries for the magically and/or Pagan inclined
- —Being a channel, godhorse, or the like— (taken)
- The role of motivation and drive in your practice
- —Magical applications of mundane art forms— (taken)
- —Your body in your practice, your home in your practice, or your finances in your practice— (taken)
- Education, critical thinking, and/or research for witches/Pagans/occultists
- Witchy/Pagan/occult mutual aid
- —Emotions in your practice, witchy/Pagan/occult counseling, or how therapy made you better at your Craft— (taken)
- —The historical roots of your practice or the role of divination in your practice— (taken)
- —Your higher or ideal self, and their role in your life— (taken)
- —Gods, spirits, or magic taking a direct and plainly stated role in your life— (taken)
- What connects all of the different elements of your practice and life
- Being a mediator or neutral third party in the community, or how social distancing has changed your practice
- Anything and everything woo woo, with the possibility of some especially strange questions (I might give this one to a particular friend...)
Interviews can take place over email or Discord - your preference. I'll need a third-person introduction for you, maximum 5 sentences, as well as links to any website, social media, etc that you'd like me to share on the interview post. (You don't need to send it until the end of the interview, so feel free to email before it's ready!)
I'll start by drawing a single card to represent the deck's greeting to you and interpreting it; I send you both a photo and the interpretation. Once you respond, I repeat the process with several cards (usually 2-3) for each question (usually 5 in total). Each question is sent after I see your response. Then I pull another single card to represent the deck's goodbye message.
There is no rush to send the answers; most of the interviews so far have taken place over several days.
Interviews are normally posted on Saturday or Sunday, if I have at least one that's ready.
